Since the owner of the apartment is a famous Croatian food blogger and big on aesthetics, it is no surprise that the kitchen holds the central point of the interior design of her new home in the stylish Berlin mitte area.
Although Ivy´s design is solely responsible for the interior design of the whole apartment, the custom made iron kitchen cabinets steal the show and provide for the most inquiries.
Since the client already had very clear style pointers and a general idea of how she wishes the space to turn out, it was clear that the whole interior needs to be made around the kitchen cabinets. Although, a woodworker company was originally employed to do the work, they backed out due to technical issues. Eventually, guys from a Friedrichshein company specializing in exactly what we needed was employed, and the results were fantastic and beyond. The iron cabinet doors are open and provide for all the kitchen accessoire to be on visual display.
Instead of opting for the obvious and expanding the kitchen length-wise, it was decided to make it a giant in terms of having it prolong all the way up to the ceiling. The length of the lavender colored kitchen is definitely an unusual and daring solution, and for the upper shelves and storage to be reached, there is a classy latter placed as a curious addition to the kitchen ensemble. Which seemed only fitting- for the lavender kitchen and the steel cabinets to be the most imposing attraction of a food blogger`s apartment.
Since the apartment has glass windows that extend on a whole side of the place, the idea was to make the whole apartment resemble one big closed terrace. The interior relies on natural and organic materials, earthy tones, and is completed with loads of plants & greens.
Another curiosity of the apartment is definitely the wall. It is more than a wall- it is a piece of art. Custom made and hand painted by an Croatian Academic painter- Damir Mumbasic, it provides for the perfect canvas behind the custom made wooden dining table and matching chairs, for all the divine food photography.
