Hudson Reed were approached by
the owners of the former dairy ‘The White House’ in Cheshire to provide the bathroom fittings for both their master bathroom and the children’s bathroom, as featured on series 2 of Sarah Beeny’s ‘Double Your House For Half The Money’ programme on Channel 4.

Recruitment director Becky and mechanical engineer Mark Ridley live in a 200-year-old cottage with their two children. They wanted to add a massive extension and give it a modern revamp while making the most of its original charm.

Mark & Becky felt that many of the Hudson Reed products would look great in either or both of their bathrooms and travelled to our Burnley head office to discuss the project further.

For their master bathroom, they opted for the Sequence basin & cabinet to give them lots of handy storage, coupled with the Lucid LED Mirror which features a shaving socket and de-mister pad. The couple chose a double ended bath, which features the ‘Eternalite’ finish, meaning the water stays warm for up to 30 minutes longer than a conventional bath.

As befits the master bathroom of such an impressive house, they also opted for a shower enclosure (available in the Ultra brand), with a thermostatic shower valve from the Rapid range, to complement their basin and bath taps. To ensure a cosy feel for the bathroom, they opted for the double panel Refresh radiator which offers exceptional heat output at over 6000 BTU/hr. An Eton heated towel rail next to the bath was the finishing touch, offering the luxury of warm towels after a relaxing Hudson Reed bath.

For their en-suite bathroom, Mark & Rebecca chose the Quartet furniture pack in high gloss grey, giving them twin basins and fantastic storage. A large wetroom spaces featured two wetroom screens and a walk-in shower tray, coupled with a triple thermostatic shower valve with slide rail kit and fixed head, giving multi-option showering with anti-scald protection. To ensure a co-ordinated look, the brassware was matching, with an Eton heated towel rail and another Refresh radiator for added warmth.

Rebecca summed up why they chose to go with Hudson Reed for both of their bathrooms: ‘Having spent almost ten years saving up to extend and renovate our house we wanted to make sure that it was special. We researched a lot of different bathroom products and were looking for something that would really give our house the “wow factor”. The contemporary and stylish look of Hudson Reed’s ranges combined with the high quality finish and workmanship really helped them to stand out and meant that they were the perfect choice for our build.’
