With enough creativity, hard work, vision, and a little ingenuity, almost any living space can be crafted into a fantastic home. It’s not the size of the space that matters, but how you use it.
Today we’re travelling to Brazil, to take a look at an astonishing abode that was constructed in just a few short months on a fairly small plot of land. The finished home is a modest seventy square metres, but its creative design more than accounts for its size.
Here we see the home’s façade towards the final stages of construction, and immediately the creative space management becomes evident. To account for the narrow space available for building, the architects have added height to the house, creating quite a formidable structure.
The grey building that once stood before us has become a pleasant peach home adorned with hanging baskets and potted plants. Despite its narrow size, the home has been design to feel bright and open with lots of natural light, as evidenced here by the size of the bay windows by the door.
Here we have the interior during the decorating process. From our point of view, we’re standing in what will later become the living room. Again, we can see how space has been made to feel larger and more open thanks to the layout of the staircase and double height ceiling above us.
The end result is simply stunning! Standing in the living room surveying the kitchen and floor above, we can appreciate just how well the space has been managed: the living room benefits from the space the high ceiling allows, and the breakfast bar – with seating for four – sits neatly under the landing, enclosing the kitchen space and making it distinct from the living area.
In terms of décor, the pastel red of the wall combines nicely with the dark wooden tones of the stairs and floor, while the grey of the sofa blends with the kitchen tiles in the background.
Once again we are surveying the home during the construction process, but one thing is abundantly clear: the finished home will be incredibly bright thanks the size of the windows that almost completely cover the wall at the rear of the home.
Finally, we have a view of the finished home from atop the staircase. We can see how the light streaming through the large windows into the living room far below us fills the vast space; one could hardly guess from this vantage point how modest the home may appear from outside.
