Each interior decor style is beloved for its individual characteristics. Some like the ornate decoration of Victorian homes, while others like to stay on the minimal side of things. The Scandinavian design scheme is among the most highly regarded when it comes to minimalist decor, as the combination of bright colours and natural materials ensures maximum comfort without fail.

The home transformation we're looking at today was brought to us by the Home Stagers at Venduta A Prima Vista, and they took a gloomy and depressing home and redesigned it into a Scandinavian dream home. We hope this transformation opens your eyes to your own remodeling possibilities and gives you a new-found appreciation for Scandinavian design–it sure did for us.

Before: too cluttered

Substantially, the old dining room was functional, but nevertheless, the bookshelves covered with books and grim yellow walls made the space appear too dark and uncomfortable. The old-fashioned style of things certainly didn't help in that regard…

After: cheerful

Gloomy and characterless are definitely not the words to describe this new dining room. Instead of depressing muted yellow, the walls have been upgraded to a cheerful blue and white combination, and for an added spring-time charm, a vase with two cut flowers was placed on the centre of the table.

Before: lifeless

Although the kitchen leaves a clean and tidy impression, it doesn't give much in the way of an inviting feeling. The atmosphere is dark and lifeless and has little space for actual food preparation.

After: a breathe of fresh air

This new kitchen is quite a step up! The oversized dining table was replaced by a smaller, lighter table and positioned closer to the wall for more cooking space, and other unnecessary furnishings were removed for an airier atmosphere. The new wispy curtains allow more natural light into the room and gives more personality to the decor scheme.

Before: imperfect placement

We don't only find the dining room in this area, but also the living room. The sofa reminds us of the couch that's been sitting in grandma's basement for the past two decade, and the fact that it's so close to the dining table ensures difficulties while eating and socialising.

After: much better

Now that the dining table has been moved to the far corner of the room, it feels much more open and inviting. A new and bright sofa with comfy cushions provides a fresh new ambience.

Before: nowhere to go but up

When you're at rock-bottom in terms of decoration, there's nowhere else to go but up. It's easy to understand why someone might be overcome with sorrow upon entering this old bedroom. We have the same muted yellow walls that we saw in the old dining room, and these beds with their large headboards take up a lot of space and strip us of any pleasant feeling.

After: a carefree space

Now that's what we're talking about! Now the only dark thing in this room is the deep mahogany desk at the wall, which brings in a nice contrast to the rest of the space. But the real eye-catcher of the room is the new yellow chair, which brings an extra pop of colour and life. With fresh coats of paint and bright new furniture, this home can now breathe easy.
