We all live in very different climates, and these varied climates do not always behave in ways we want them to. If you live in a climate that experiences four season, for example, you experience the hottest heat during the summer months, and the most frigid temperatures during the winter. But luckily for homeowners everywhere, modern technology has allowed us to regulate these fluctuating temperatures in our homes no matter where we are – and this is where homify comes in.

In this Ideabook, we are going to show you some of the most common possibilities on the market to achieve a regulated living climate. From air conditioners to heaters, to split installation systems, we are here to give you a detailed guide that will inform you and allow you to find the option most suitable to you and your specific climate needs. So, let's get started!

Aircon

Installing an air conditioner in your home is one of the most effective ways to regulate your home's interior climate. Air conditioners work by turning the hot air in your home into cool air with the help of an air compressing system. These systems are perfect if you live in a tropical or generally hot and humid climate.

Air conditioners come in many different sizes, depending on the size of your home or whether or not you want one for just one room or the whole house. Air conditioners that are used for one room are fashioned to a window in the room and left to work. Air conditioners for the whole home, however, are installed through the heating and ventilation system of the home, and the air conditioner itself is usually situated outside the home.

Table and ceiling fans

If you live in a climate that offers warmer temperatures, but nothing as severe as a tropical climate, you might consider something less intense than a climate regulator. Table fans are the perfect choice when you just need to slightly cool a room. They are also a great option if you are unwilling to spend all that money on the installation of an air conditioner or the monthly electric bill for it.

Table fans ventilate your room by offering a slight breeze. Another alternative to a table fan would be a ceiling fan. Ceiling fans help to ventilate larger areas better, and work great on both hot and cool days. On hot days, a ceiling fan will ventilate the room just as a table fan would, providing a nice breeze while also staying completely out of the way. On cooler days, however, they provide a more interesting climate control. As many of us know, heat rises. And on cooler days, when your heater is turned on, you may not feel the effects of it because it has all risen to the ceiling. Ceiling fans, when set to a low speed, help to push that warm air back down to you, which also saves you money on your heating bill.

Dehumidifier

Dehumidifiers are fantastic inventions that can be used in just about any climate. They work by taking excess moisture out of the air, compressing it, and collecting it in a basket in the system. Therefore, these machines are perfect for incredibly humid climates. They are also very well suited for any basement or wine cellar

Cellars are notorious for collecting and trapping humidity, so having a dehumidifier in your basement will ensure that all of your stored belongings stay dry. Dehumidifiers are also great additions to any bathroom. As we take our hot and steamy showers, the humidity levels rise, and as soon as we open up that bathroom door, the humidity travels to all neighbouring rooms. A dehumidifier will help regulate the moisture in the air and keep any growing mould at bay.

Humidifier

If you live in a rather cold and frigid climate, a humidifier might be exactly what you need. In colder climates, there is little to no moisture in the air, and that means little to no moisture is able to stay in your home. You may think that's a good thing, but not enough moisture can lead to some rather annoying problems. Without moisture in the air, our noses become raw, we get cracked lips, and our skin becomes itchy from dryness. Not to mention the static shock that can occur more frequently, and an uncomfortable night's sleep is often a side effect.

Luckily, a humidifier will solve all of these problems! Humidifiers work in exactly the opposite way as a dehumidifier by adding small amounts of moisture to the air. The moisture levels can be controlled at any time, meaning you can achieve the perfect humidity balance in your home so you can stay comfortable.

Heater

If you live in a colder climate, or a climate that experiences all four seasons, you are definitely going to want a heater installed. Thankfully, just about every home ever built has some sort of heating system installed. But if not, having one installed is simple, easy, and does not break the bank.

Of course, if you do not wish to install this entire system, there are space heaters available on the market. Many people have issues with space heaters, as they can be a bit dangerous, but in recent years, space heaters have become much more safe. In the old days, it was very unwise to leave a space heater unattended, as things could easily get caught in it and subsequently set them on fire. Nowadays, space heaters come with detectors that know when objects are too close, and when something gets too close to the heater, it automatically turns off.

There were also concerns about space heaters tipping over and causing fires, but they now come with special sensors on the bottoms that turn off the system when it is not on a flat surface. So that means any time you pick it up, or if it were to ever fall over, the sensors on the bottom of the heater would turn the system off and it won't turn on again until it is placed on solid ground.

Split installation

A split installation system is a type of air conditioning system that is installed inside of a room and only makes use of the inside air, unlike regular air conditioners that make use of external air. A split air conditioner is a great alternative to a wall, window, or centralized air conditioning system, as it adequately cools the home without requiring extensive installation costs. These systems do not require ductwork, and therefore they help to reduce energy expenditure

A split air conditioner is compact and there is very little chance for heat or cooled air to escape through the system, unlike centralized air conditioners. Centralized systems waste an enormous amount of energy because of heat exchange in the duct system, but this problem is virtually eliminated in the split air conditioning system.
